Isakly what we need

What I am assuming is that we still pay Diogo's salary (to his family) but that it is covered by insurance (so there's no net cost to us).
Does insurance really cover salary? I can understand it covering book value, but not salary - but if you say so I'm sure its true.

Kind of makes Liverpool's great gesture to honour his contract by paying his family his full wages slightly less of a LFC gesture and more of a Go Compare gesture

Mate… they need to be buying the new Adidas kit so we can pay for all these sexy fuckers we’re signing… not being tight asses and recycling old shirts!!!!!
I'm still sporting the Riedle Carlsberg kit, fuck buying a new one. I've paid enough over the years to different subscription services to watch the shit.

He'll be in one of the standard DC pension schemes that everyone is now a part of, and they usually have a 4* salary life cover element at minimum, so no the club does not have a financial responsibility when someone dies, the life and pensions people do.

Let's face it, even if it wasn't covered by insurance the money was coming straight from the fans anyway. The only really meaningful gesture would've been the owners footing the bill. As it is, it's just a tax (gladly paid, but still).

I believe it will cover both.
It’s still an LFC gesture - they pay Go Compare a pretty penny for this cover every year and this will be the first time they’ve made a claim for as long as I can remember. You could argue about the PR of the thing but I don’t think they’ve actually made a statement to seek credit so all good with me.

The PFA info booklet stipulates a death benefit of “up to £600k”.

Oh sound. I mean I know it flies in the face of sentiment on here but I actually don't think the club has a duty of responsibility to a multi millionaire's family that already has an estate that pretty much all of us would love. If it was a random who worked in catering then it would be a nice gesture. Why throw more millions at a family who already hit the financial jackpot?

The watch that melted on his wrist was worth more than my house. She'll be ok.

It always grates on me how people STILL talk about footballers like they're just regular salarymen. You hear people write stuff about how it's some player's last contract so he really needs to make it count - errr, sorry, are we talking about the same guy who's already earned £50m in the last 10 years?

We can surely negotiate a bit better
They don't have to sell, we don't need to buy. Both clubs can save face. We say 120, they say 140. If we win enough to have all the add-ons activated, will we care if it's 140?

If like it for less, and hopefully we can get it for less, but I highly doubt less that 130 all in

So £120m fixed + £10m for repeating the PL (or winning the CL) this season and another £10m if we win either the following season (assuming a minimum number of appearances for Isak).

Exactly.

20m I'd happily pay for minimum a league or CL the next 2 seasons. We're in win now mode. So we need to fucking win

Yeah it'll be around that. Them asking for £150m I'd say is basically good news. Means they're willing to sell. Almost certainly means they'll settle for less than that, too. Earlier on there was talk of them wanting £200m or so.

It'll be around £130-140m including add-ons.

Newcastle need to sell if they are to sign replacements, and they are getting rejected by every player they try to sign at this point.
They don’t have a DOF and clearly doesn’t want an unhappy player to sit in the stands.
At least not a 100 mill + player.

They might say 150, but I’ll be surprised if we end up paying that much.
130 in total is kinda my breaking point in all honesty. But let’s see.

I agree, it's not ideal. I thought we'd pay a lot more for wirtz than we did, so there's every chance we play another blinder. I just think 120+20 gets it 100% done

As someone said this probably gets done now but the payment structure and add ons will take a while to agree.

The only outlier is it someone decides to go in for Gordon. That would be big money and could derail Newcastle needing to sell Isak
