Isakly what we need

At the end of the day, you can count our performing players on about three fingers. There's only one constant in that, they can't all be shit or "not arsed". You can't realistically judge anyone at the minute, because the whole thing is fucked and Slot is a joker.

He looked a little quicker / sharper today and that was a finisher’s finish. Let’s hope he starts again on Wednesday and builds on this.

Maybe its Chinese whispers, but a good friend of mine's brother in law, has a box, taking clients to the games.

After the Forest embarrassment, he was in some area where the agents were all congregated, and there was some real anti-Isak sentiment coming out on behalf of the players. Apparently none of them like him - at all.

I don't know how much i believe this but has anyone else heard that Isak is isolated in the dressing room?

That would surprise me as I don't think Virgil (or the senior players) would permit that to happen. Especially to a new arrival.

Doesn't seem that way on BTS videos either.

More media bollocks or simply untrue I'd venture.

A lot of the players probably don't really know him so well.

He signed late, a few international breaks, injuries etc. And you can imagine that with things going so badly, things have probably been a bit tense.

They didn’t seem overly excited with his goal against West Ham.

Sounds like nonsense but supposing it was true, that would be a pretty catastrophic failure on the part of Hughes. Ability is paramount but cultural fit can't / shouldn't be ignored.

It's part of the risk on signing a player who goes on strike to force a move. It requires a singularly determined character to collect a substantial weekly salary, ultimately paid by the fans, while actively refusing to fulfil basic contractual duties like training, even if the action was sanctioned by us.
From what I've read, he is known to be very quiet and reserved, but possesses an intense self-belief that borders on arrogance. The later is pretty normal for the best players in the game. The former means it might take him longer to integrate, especially when he's been injured, but he's hardly going to be some Balotelli-style nightmare. For now, at least, Slot needs to figure out how to get him the ball in the box more than he needs to integrate him into the sodding BBQ club. There are bigger issues.

If it's true that the other players don't especially like him then that is a shame, but presumably it has always been the case elsewhere, or he has managed to integrate eventually.

If it is the former, then it doesn't seem to have stopped him being a good player.

Ideally all of the players in the squad will like each other, but I suspect that is never really the case. There's always likely to be one or two who don't like each other and one or two who don't mix very much.

He is apparently reserved and a more silent guy. A squad has different personalities, so I am sure he will find his buddies in the group. I don’t like all my colleagues. Some are cunts. Some are nice people.
They wlll also love him more when he bangs them ln every week.

My siblings know his "people" and they say he's always been a quiet, reserved guy. Just focused on football. Not really interested in the social side of it.

Reminds me of this:

Alexis Mac Allister says he was delighted to see "amazing" Alexander Isak get off the mark in the Premier League after Liverpool beat West Ham United 2-0 on Sunday to move into the top half of the table.

And Argentina international Mac Allister also feels talk of his fitness issues this campaign have been overplayed, claiming the debate has raged simply due to the run of poor results Liverpool have been on for the last two months.

“Yeah, I am really happy for him," Mac Allister said. "I think he's an amazing player, we all know that. I was joking with him because he doesn't even smile when he scores!

"I’m really happy because he deserves it, the same for Florian (Wirtz). I think he played a really good game. He played really good. So it's important that they're getting to their level.

“Alex is very quiet. He likes to be on his own sometimes. You can see that I just try to speak to him because his Spanish is quite good as well. But yeah, he's a quiet guy and we are all happy to have him here.

“They (the new signings) are really good people. We are all in the same boat trying to get out of this situation and they are very positive. They give their best. So yeah, I think they're really, really good and everyone likes them.

"We always said it, even last season, that the group is really good. There is a lot of positivity, but again, it's a tough situation so we understand that people are going to say things, but for us it's exactly the same. We just want to win games, play the football that we know and hopefully the situation in a couple of weeks is going to be different.

“It’s always important to win, especially in the moment we are in. But yeah, this doesn't mean anything. It's just a win. And now we have to focus on Wednesday.

“Hopefully [the win is a boost]. That’s the idea. But to be completely honest, I think today we didn't see the team that we really want to be. I think we can do much more, especially defensively. But yeah, we need to keep working and now the focus is on Wednesday and hopefully we can get a win at home.”
