Don't know if this has been posted already or even if I've spelt the fuckers name right but he's the "major signing" apparently.

Bascombe, Barrett, and Dominic King claim we're in talks for a 16M deal.

Liverpool hope to sign highly rated Ukrainian international Yevhen Konoplyanka before the transfer window closes.
After missing out on Egyptian Mohamed Salah to Chelsea, the Merseyside club have already begun negotiations with Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk for a deal that could be worth as much as £16 million.
Konoplyanka is a pacey winger who could function on either flank and has starred for the Ukrainian national team, featuring against England in the recent World Cup qualifiers.
The 24-year-old impressed against Roy Hodgson’s teams, alerting many English scouts to his promise.
He has been regularly linked with a move to the Premier League, Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal also having considered a move in the past.

Liverpool will be eager to conclude negotiations swiftly having been stung in the transfer market recently following late moves from their top four rivals.
Manager Brendan Rodgers has been frustrated by the lack of additions to the squad during this window, although he stressed after Tuesday night’s Merseyside derby he was fully on board with the club’s approach to deals.
Liverpool are determined to get value for money in the transfer market but are ready to pay a premium for the most coveted talent.
Liverpool also need cover in defence and midfield, but the addition of such a highly regarded player would undoubtedly be a fillip ahead of a crucial period in pursuit of a Champions League return.[/article]

As much as this link excites me more than the Salah one, it boggles to why we only earmarked Konoplyanka as back up option. Doesn't make sense unless someone (Are or Henry) being given a bollocking to sign someone or we risk no CL and Suárez leaves in the summer.

From the little I've seen and read about him, he seems to have a bit of Coutinho about him, ala good close control and an eye for a cute ball. I'd be happy with either of the two Ukrainians, but I do think I'd prefer Konoplyanka over Yarmolenko. @rurikbird, maybe you could do a quick write up about Konoplyanka, as you're the most informed here!

Or we decided that the best value for money deal was Salah at around 10m, so we tried that first.

Barrett's claimed we've already made a bid.

Got 2 days to get the deal done so at least this one's not gonna fuckin drag.

I want him. Based on utterly fuck all I'll happily admit.

I suspect we might have been planning a summer bid for him, but the Salah break down pushed the timeline forward.

Welcome to the transfer hysteria club. To be fair he was by far the best player when Ukraine played England a while back, I know, that's saying a lot!

Concern players from that part of the world rarely settle in England.

That said a few on here have been raving about him

interesting to see where this guy fits in the team . We obviously need more top quality in the squad but i wonder why this is the type of player we're prioritising. Would he fit in the team with sterling , coutinho , sturridge and suarez or will one of them now be on the bench ?

Maybe Rodgers is going to focus on having Coutinho at the top of a midfield three, if he plays as hard and well as he did yesterday, hes more than capable.

Well good luck to us then. God knows what our approach is this time, but we took 2 and a half months with Salah!

Hes been mentioned a fair bit on other Liverpool forums for quite a while to, a lot do rate him and have wanted us to go for him.

Remember keeping an eye out for him and Yarmelenko in the England Ukraine games but they were such dire cagey defensive games it was hard to really tell how good they were.

One of the things that has impressed me most about Rodgers is the flexibility he has impressed upon the team. This season we have played 3-5-2, 4-2-3-1 and 4-3-3, we've played quality possession based football and at other times like last night we've been more direct and proved to be deadly on the counter. I think part of the reason he does this is to make our approach to a game less predictable and most times he gets it right. When something goes wrong or something changes (like who's available) he is also usually pretty quick to adapt the teams approach. If this guy signs he'll just be another option, sometimes he'll play on the right, sometimes on the left and sometimes he'll be on the bench.

Been saying for a while Rodgers wants to play the Christmas tree formation.
