vs Burnley (A)

I thought Sterling had a mediocre game apart from the goal. Maybe it's harsh on him because he had to feed off scraps, but he made wrong decisions with the ball and didn't look 100% composed. He was better after the goal though.

Sakho was good for the most part.

I'm happy for Coutinho. That assist was reminiscent of one of his best passes of last season for Sturridge. He really becomes a different player when there is pacy striker up front.

Sakho was solid for most of the game, but he made me worry in the last half an hour. Still on the balance he was our best defender today (if you don't count Can, who only had 45 minutes, but wasn't tested as much by Burnley). On the opposite, Skrtel was poor for most of the game, but improved after the goal and made a couple of vital clearances.

I also think Rodgers got his 3rd substitution right, even though at the time it looked very strange. Coutinho was playing well, but by his nature he is an uncompromising player – he can't adjust his game based on the scoreline, so if you choose between him and Lallana when you need to hold a 1-goal lead, it should be Lallana every time. This also gave Sterling an opportunity to get on the ball more than when he was playing as the lone striker and Lambert made a couple of nice lay-offs for him as well. It was a smart substitution that worked.

Mignolet... Hope this clean sheet gives him at least some confidence, because he was painful to watch.

It's frustrating watching teams like Spurs (with the recently excellent Lloris) scraping wins with the odd goal after game-changing keeper saves, whilst we stumble on with the goalkeepers from hell (or league 2).

We'd be a much better team with a decent keeper.

It's also frustrating watching Christian Eriksen, who we refused to take for paltry 12M, score more league goals this season then Lallana, Coutinho and Balotelli combined in all competitions.

It's ok though. You know as soon as anyone signs for Spurs they have no ambition whatsoever and just wanna chill in a totally pressure free shithouse environment.

He wouldn't fit in here.

I hope we are keeping an eye on Davy Klaassen. He is turning into a fine player.

Rodgers said in the post-match interview that Can for Kolo was a tactical substitution. He wanted better build-up from the back and felt than Can also gave the team "real athleticism." Interesting. I wonder if Can is going to replace Toure for the next game as well.

Sakho looking off pace for the last 30 mins isnt strange seeing as he just returned from injury.
Had a good game today.

Lucas was poor.

The thing abot Pepe is that he never once looked like he lacked confidence....the opposite is true for Ming.

Improving on the goal keeper situation will take us forward a long way in terms of solving some of the defensive jitteriness and improving our distribution fromthe back.

Henderson plays like he's arrived. Vice captain. England international. 'I've made it'. 'I've arrived'. 'I'm boss and I don't need to try as hard as I did before because everyone recognizes i'm good now'

Someone needs to give him a good slap and let him know how shit he can be when he doesn't work hard for the team. He was so one-dimensional it was like watching the likes of Danny Murphy/Charlie Adam playing again.

Similarly, could you imagine if we had Sanchez?

That train's left and I don't think we can blame anyone at LFC for it leaving without us, however I was thinking exactly the same watching him yesterday. He would have been as much a revelation (if we can call him that considering his standing anyway) with Liverpool as he is at the Arse .. and we'd be up there challenging for 3rd.

I was very surprised at Toure yesterday. He is not usually a hoof-it-clear kind of player but he did that on numerous occasions against Burnley .. it was noticeable how Can used his better technical skills to bypass on-rushing Burnley players to give himself more time to make a forward pass, and not just short passes either but 20-30m forward.

There were at least two occasions in the first half when Sakho went to ground like a madman in a situation where he simply needed to stand up and defend. Horrible defending.

He was quite good against Arsenal, but I thought he reverted to type yesterday.

It's a fine line though isn't it? He used to get stick for appearing so tentative. His confidence grew as the manager stuck by him and by the end of last season, he was integral to the team (look how much we missed him during his ban). But I do know what you mean...in fact I think it's a mentality that extends to quite a few others in the squad and has done for some time. I just think it's a little unfair to single Henderson out for this.
