Florian and the (Slot) Machine

I think Wirtz will be fine, the football stuff is there, but (not surprisingly) the "brand new" front four aren't on the same wavelength yet, when they click we'll be wondering what all the fuss was about. I'd rather be where we are right now with that ceiling above us, because you're not telling me that there isn't room for ascendancy with Wirtz, Isak, Ekitike and Salah. It'll happen. I get the derision, but some of the posts in this thread are, frankly, fucking childish.

I mean i look at that lovely Flick of his at the end but if instead of being excited about it he went right not forward he'd have a 1-2 tap in

If my aunt had bollocks and all that.

Well, no. That doesn't apply here. The key word Frogfish used is "narrative", and it's spot on.

If your aunt spread her legs and invited 10 men a day to shag her, she would be a bit of a slag, regardless of how many of the 10 took up the offer.

If every one of those chances gets finished off, it doesn't change Flo's individual performances whatsoever, yet you can bet on the fact that it would change the narrative.

Ok. How many chances did Keita create that were not scored? Would that have changed his narrative?

He’s been a massive disappointment. Whether that is player or system, it’s slot to sort.

People can wank over that ballet flick to Salah against Chelsea. It doesn’t hide the fact he was useless the rest of the time on the pitch.

Wirtz is the least of my worries with the current batch of signings.
Kerkez seems to have forgotten how to attack or defend, Isak should have been left alone at NU,Frimpong can’t kick a ball past 10 yrds.
Then there is existing issues with Salah, Szbo and Macca not offering enough in midfield.
The issue then becomes do we stick with Slot and how long for to see any sign of improvements.

Frimpong's lack of impact at all has gone under the radar a bit. But did nobody vet him for strength/physicality? He's so lightweight. Which is ironic, with Slot seemingly obsessed about "winning duels"

For that price I should expect 22 year old Messi. It doesn’t help we already have someone who has been told they don’t have to do that side of the game.

Thats the issue in a nutshell. Add in Isak being unfit/lazy then it's gakpo doing all the legwork.

It should be wirtz doing what he likes, Isak leading the press and Salah working hard again.

He never was going to be good enough to justify the fee.

I would like him to start justifying half the fee though. Either in goals or in application

You would see that happen if the wing forwards did play him in, not just shoot themselves.
