Ridiculous statement.Even if he wins the Balon D'Or Dreamy will say the money should have been spent elsewhere.
Sometimes its better to just not engage, everyone is entitled to their opinion i guess.
Wirtz will always be judged against a very high benchmark, given the fee we paid. Longevity matters as well. If he’s here into his thirties and gives us eight or nine strong years, I would not doubt for a second that he’ll justify the outlay. If he walks on a free in four years, the conversation may look different. There’s also a wider point. We’ve paid what feels like a superstar fee, but there's a valid argument that superstars today are a) not as good and/or b) far fewer of them, and that isn’t nostalgia talking. Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Kaka, Adriano, Henry, Zidane, Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Rooney, Raul, Totti, Del Piero, Crespo, Riquelme, Klose, Drogba, Eto’o, Luis Figo, Robinho, Inzaghi, Villa, Torres, Tevez, Shevchenko, Ibra, Larsson, Robben, Van Person, Nedved all played in the 06 World Cup. The state of that list compared to anything that will feature in the next World Cup is absurd. I solely blame that dog fucker, the other side of the Pennines and everyone who copied him.
When you put it like that, footy's a bit shit these days isn't it? Mind you, everything is.Wirtz will always be judged against a very high benchmark, given the fee we paid. Longevity matters as well. We've got DM's winning Balon'Dor's. Do me a favour.
Am I missing something?Ridiculous statement.
You have to win the CL and arguably league to win the Balon D’Or. If he does that I’ll happily say it worked out well.
That’s never going to happen though so I’m safe enough.
Because a 4-2-3-1 would have a clear double pivot (think of our Benitez teams), while under Slot we tend to leave just one midfielder back when attacking. Why do people think we play 4-3-3.
It's 4-2-3-1. There's very clearly an attacking mid ahead of the two central midfielders. It's been like that since the very first game under Slot.
Klopp's system was absolutely 4-3-3
No I said we aren’t going to do the league and CL double and Wirtz win the prize.Am I missing something?
You're constantly on about how we could win the CL this year but now you're saying that's never going to happen?
When you put it like that, footy's a bit shit these days isn't it? Mind you, everything is.
Big dongNo I said we aren’t going to do the league and CL double and Wirtz win the prize.
We will win the CL. He won’t get the big dong.
"I wish there were a way to know you're in the good old days". Instead, we were probably whinging at that list for playing in coloured boots or wearing gloves.
No I said we aren’t going to do the league and CL double and Wirtz win the prize.
We will win the CL. He won’t get the big dong.
I’d say, only now in the Brighton game he was average. Was very good against SunderlandI like Wirtz. We bought him for the future. He has been playing very well, though I agree not quite as much in the last few games.
Given he was bought for the long term, the idea of assessing his value now is silly, but if we have to, of course he isn't worth it. Will he be worth it? I don't know, but he's clearly not a bust.
There's nothing remotely controversial in any of that.
We need players who will stretch play and get doubled due to pace, and he will have more space to operate in.
Yep.I’d say, only now in the Brighton game he was average. Was very good against Sunderland

Jeez, so even the Sunderland fans have a massive blind spot around Mo as well…After the game I saw a post on Bookface from a Sunderland fan saying Flo was the best player they've seen at the Stadium of Light in a long time.
