He won't be deployed in CM as that will be SG and LL\JH\JS.
He doesn't really play well at RM and he would have to displace DK\JH.
He won't play behind the striker as he has to displace LS\SG.

Considering we only have the league and two cups to paly for he won't get a lot of game time. He is a bit of a shithouse as well..

So were will he be deployed???

This is a good deal if true and I don't think it sends the wrong impression.

Henderson will play RM, Suarez isn't going to play behind the striker (he'll be playing all over the place, another Keegan) and there'll be a vacancy either in CM or behind the striker depending on where Stevie plays in each game. Ergo there's more than enough scope for including Meireles.

As I said, I like him but why does selling him and using that money to buy someone we need more such a bad thing, it doesn't indicate that we are a selling club. Personally I think it sends a message we have gotten our act together...

I am not doubting he is a class player but he can only play behind the front man\AM. We have stevie to do that and also suarez. They are both superior to raul.

Raul, each time he has played out wide has not really done the job.

for the cash we would get I would do it, if we keep him that is also fine...

While I sort of agree with you Andy and absolutly love Raul.
One of things that work against Raul is that he hasnt got a set position, or a specialized role if you will. He can play anywhere which maybe does him more harm than good with the plans Kenny and Comolli have for next season.

We will have wingers next season and a fit again Stevie. Raul sadly isnt good enough defensivly to be a DM, so he kind of gets lost between two chairs...

Love him though.

I strongly suspect the wages is the key point. While FSG want to add to the squad, they wanna keep the wage bill as low as possible. That means shipping out players on high wages where possible.

Using reported wages I work it to approx 2 players out equalling 3 players in. This means our squad should be stronger in the short & long term.

I don't really have an issue with us buying Henderson, I'm trusting that Kenny knows the player well enough and sees enough in him, but the fee more or less makes a mockery of the 'buying young to keep the wages low' theory, because you end up over paying anyway on the transfer fee. So whereas we'd normally have paid less than £10m for a player of similar ilk and standing from abroad, we've paid nearly double that which is probably more or less what we'd have spent on the wage difference anyway.

It just seems a touch of swings and roundabouts.
