Two points :

I love this new Trent position. It basically gives us a double pivot helping out Fabs (or whoever is playing as DM), enables Trent to spread the ball around, show his prowess on the ball and get forward, whilst Konate comfortably handles his double duty - except when he slips over - (VvD moves more central however it doesn't matter much as most teams play via the wings on the break, not through the centre) but can move back central if the danger appears there.

Anyone else notice how Konate and VvD swap places for corners from our left? Konate goes to the front post and VvD drops central/rear.

Any downsides to this new position?

It was a good run and finish but when your big summer signing finishes the season on the bench questions need asking (assuming he’s not got some injury or niggle).

Agree. Now, is it because hes still struggling to get to grips with the system, or klopp taking him out the limelight now we've got fit players, to alleviate some pressure. I don't know

Apparently Jota gave away possession 15 times in the first half an hour

There could be a question mark, against a more attacking side, that our right could be over-run, though I'd suggest we likely wouldn't play the double-pivot then (or only when in transition) or against those teams we bring in a dedicated RB and push Trent into midfield.

Carra wouldv'e sold him for 25m before the game.

Maybe 30m after seeing his goals.

Hears he lost possession 15x first 30 mins.

Ok lucky to get 10m

:D:D:D

That shot conversion stat is shocking

Any shots where theyve taken 2+ touches before a shot, Nunez conversion rate is 5%. Mo's is 4%

It feels like we’ve signed a very very expensive Origi replacement.

Didn't get to see the game, how comfortable was Trent in his new role? What kind of impact did it have? Loved his assists but that's not abnormal for him.

Apparently his stats in chances created over the last 2 games are up on KDB, so can he maintain it?

He seemed vary cautious at first, still coming to grips with the spacing and movement required. Passing was good throughout and overall he became more effective as the game started opening up.

This system would work much, much better if we had a Hendo of 5 years ago at RCM, covering every blade of grass on the right side - this would allow Salah to cut inside more or to receive the ball unchallenged as that player would take away defenders. The “runner” is our biggest priority.

A player like... Bellingham.

It's clear we are all loving the 'trent in midfield' role but ya know come next season he is straight back in his RB role because Klopp will sign a CM. I'm all on for signing a CM but to play alongside Trent. What we need now is a quality RB, actually, we need a quality LB too.

A player like Valverde. Or Barella, Mount, Szoboszlai, there are also cheaper/younger options too, probably. Midfielders who make runs and work a lot without the ball are often underrated compared to dribblers/passers and sometimes can be gotten for relative bargains.

MaAllister strikes me as being the closest fit out of the players we’ve been linked to.

The price is the issue. As you say, would be nice if we could find a bargain.

Raaaaatingsssssss

Ali 7 - Pretty much a spectactor, nothing he could do about the goal.

Trent 9 - Back to back games in midfield and quelle surprise he once again shows his class throughout the game when he's not being asked to defend.
Virgil 7
Ibou 7 - Took 1 point off for the goal we conceded but he picked himself back up and won pretty much all his duels, 50/50s.
Robbo 8

Fab 6
Hendo 7
Jones 9 - ran the show at times, really surprised how well he's done the last few games.

Salah 8
Gakpo 7
Jota 7 - +1 for the goals, that first half was ridiculously poor from him.
