Isakly what we need

Ok so we sell the donkey and we've lost three attackers if you include Diaz... But I'm with Beamrider on this. Why the fuck buy Ekitike if we're gonna buy Isak? I'm not sure about Ekitike but he's got no chance if we don't play him, we won't play both, and he cost a fortune. The kind way of saying this is it seems our transfer strategy is evolving. The real talk is we are just going mad with a chequebook. If anything we need a left winger, so fuck Isak and buy Rodrigo.

We definitely need centre halves more than anything else now. And we do need to sell the donkey.

The only way I can make it make sense is that we bought Ekitike because we thought Isak was off the table and now it seems like he's potentially available, we're interested again.

Only problem is that Ekitike cost 70-80M, not 30M.

Nah I don't believe that. No way we'd have been that hasty.

All I can think is we think we need 2 strikers and that Ekitike can do a reasonable job on the left. Or maybe the alternative is too scary to think about.

The idea that someone would buy Ekitike to "do a job" on the left is worse for me.

Agreed, he simply isn't a wide left forward. Ekitike and Isak only makes sense if we are moving to 442, but if we move to 442 we then have no depth behind them unless Gakpo will be moved there too.

The fee for Ekitike was too high if he is the back up replacement, unless we do get something mad for Nunez too.

Pretty crazy to think we could be losing 4 of the 6 attackers from our title winning team in the immediate window, although that is possibly generous to consider Chiesa one of those 6.

It's weird how this window seems to have gone from a 10/10 to "actually, what the fuck are we doing?" fairly quickly.

The Isak interest has left us all scratching our heads, we're dangerously short at the back and we're talking about potential Villa type situations down the line.

I'm pretty sure a week or two ago, all the financial analysis seemed to indicate that we're in pretty decent (assuming well make the sales we need to).

I dont disagree. Isak is a potential game changer, and has been the number 1 target it seems for like 5 years. I'm hoping the recruitment team isn't so blinkered in their pursuit that they've effectively become captain ahab

It all looked great until we finally realised how unbalanced selling Diaz makes us, and how mad it is that at great expense we're gonna replace Nunez twice despite not needing him at all last year and not even selling the useless cunt yet.

Isak should be a fantastic signing for us. But it's with the huge provisio that we get a quality CB as well. LW we have the options of gakpo and Rio, with Curtis, wirtz and potentially Ekitike planned for there as well (if required).

CB with guehi is less of an issue. As we'll have 4 too class cbs

Tbf we're going to replace Nunez and Jota. So 2 in 2 out makes sense. We've just spent more than we would have liked

Considering how well we did last year without a 9, who's to say we can't crank up another gear or 2 with one of the best creators in Europe alongside 2 PL proven goalscorers in Isak and Salah. Ekitike could also be excellent coming in on the left

People acting like we've got zero left wingers. We've still got gakpo.

Last year we won a league with 1 RW.

We need two strikers, and it’s just a positive that one of them can play in multiple positions.
Diaz only started 13 games on the left in the PL last season and it’s weird that people think Isak will be our last signing.
It’s pretty clear that a CB and possibly a winger will be signed.

Gakpo is a horrible outball.

You can't always pass it through, sometimes you need someone to dump it off to under pressure who can dribble from tight on the byline. Salah isn't good at that. Diaz was. Gakpo is useless and way better inside forward.

It's weird I'm optimistic, and if we don't get a quality CB I will absolutely revert to type; but I'm very mellow and positive about all this

We’ve got both Ekitike and Wirtz that can do that now. Even Isak if he comes.

But now we're going to have Ekitike (excellent dribbler), Isak (solid dribbler), wirtz (excellent dribbler and lock picker). Diaz was an excellent dribbler with horrible end product. Last year was his best and even then it wasn't great.

Salah covered a lot of issues last year, and we're rectifying them this summer.

I dunno... it would be great if we signed Isaak but in truth i'd be flabbergasted if we did, the price would be mental if it is even possible at all... In the meantime we've lost 2 of our best attackers from a Championship winning team, one via tragedy and another via selling.

Most of us would agree that selling Nunez would be a good move but instead we've lost Djota and Diaz, granted Wirtz and Ekitike are gonna be great additions but... Djota and Diaz knew the team and vice versa...

The fearful line i've heard from oppo commentators online saying if we sign Isaak you may as well crown us Champs before a ball is kicked... however kid in a sweet shop pleasing it is... it doesn't always work like that does it... I'm happy we are refreshing but did we have to do it quite so extremely?

I imagine after the sale of Diaz we should be looking for a left winger unless we are actually going balls in for Isaak and imagining that Ekitike is flexible enough to play further left... not sure if this is all crazy or just exciting.

If we can sell Nunez and Elliot we may have enough cash to buy Isaak but... we will have lost a fair old chunk of talent in this window and changed a butt load of players.
