Isakly what we need

Utd is a bigger club but it’s a move which basically ruins your career. Players don’t succeed there bar Bruno and they can’t even be given away if they want to move.
If you have any ambition as a player Utd is the last place you move.

Sesko would be mad to go there.

People are really deluded if they think Newcastle is a bigger draw than Utd. It's United. They might be shit right now but they're a mega club. And it's not like Newcastle are challenging for titles or anything. Almost everyone is gonna prefer probably not qualifying for the CL with Utd to probably not qualifying for it with Newcastle.

That bolded bit reminded me of this joke:

p.s. Actually this is the first time I've heard this joke told in such graphic detail. 😀

Utd looking at Kolo Muani on loan. Don’t think they can afford Sesko.

For our sake let’s hope Newcastle can actually get a signing over the line. At the moment they are run by inept people.

I think it’s important to add in the Isak debate and why we are trying to sign him as well.
We’re future planning for the day Salah isn’t around anymore and reshaping our attack.
It’s what smart and forward thinking clubs do.

We also need to reshape our defence for when Virgil isn’t about. Rodrygo and a couple of defenders for that money makes more sense to me.

Still enough for him and the gay.
Yes, but not him plus two CB…

Fwiw, I’d be torn on the option of Isak or Rodrygo plus one…but suspect we’ll end up getting Guehi anyway even if Isak is done.

Like I posted yesterday, I’m all for us having two top class number 9s, especially given Ekitike could do with a season in the prem to find his feet.

I'd like to see us bring in a forward with the speed factor of peak Mane / Salah when Salah ends up going.

I have advocated elsewhere for a cheap old journeyman for the other slot.

I can’t understand having both unless we are moving to 3-5-2 in the future. We won’t go 4-4-2 because Wirtz plus on midfield won’t work. Both Ekitike and Isak won’t work in 4-3-3 in my opinion.

I wrote somewhere else that Ekitike could be playing the 'Henry' position. I didn't realise how fast he is for a giraffe and his control and ball skills mean that he could actually go past defenders better than Diaz/Gakpo. With Isak at CF that may work. We'll see.

Henry was best up front though.

That sort of misses the point. He was fantastic coming in off the LW too. So if this is a forward line in transition (until Mo. leaves) then it's a potential solution. I'm still not convinced we'll get Isak though - Rodrygo would likely suit us better being able to play RW when Mo. is at AFCON.

I agree with this bar the Rodrygo point. But finish the defence rebuild with 2 CBs to go along with the GK and the full backs and that is an excellent summer.

Every chance. Ali and Salah could go next year, Macca the year after.

We're setting ourselves up to transition well
i do hate the financial aspect of football when it forces the loss of players but i suppose it’s where we have an edge.
