I think it definitely is the right time to sell Diaz in terms of his value, and we needed to overhaul our attack, not for now, but for the future. We need one of our attack to be much better than they are, and with the exception of gakpo, there was no evidence that anyone had that much higher a ceiling and the big names are all getting worse.
I don't get what the sell is here for Rodrygo though. Come here and do bits for us, then we will either offload you or gakpo in a couple years in much the same way? Isn't he already on a team where he has this sort of less established role?
Ive been convinced we were going to sell Diaz all year. If you are a winger playing for Liverpool and you get played as a 9 you may as well start packing, because we think you've lost a step and we know you are just good enough to do a job elsewhere. It's mane all over again.
I'm less convinced with the quality available to us for replacements. I don't see many players who are better than Diaz out there, and I'm underwhelmed in general with all the forwards we are linked to, especially at the prices.
We had better not sell konate though. We've done a lot, all at once. The continuity isn't that convincing, and we absolutely should keep it through the spine.
