Isakly what we need

That sort of misses the point. He was fantastic coming in off the LW too. So if this is a forward line in transition (until Mo. leaves) then it's a potential solution. I'm still not convinced we'll get Isak though - Rodrygo would likely suit us better being able to play RW when Mo. is at AFCON.

Does it?

Perhaps my view is skewed by his latter years on the left at Barca but I think there is a difference between starting up front and drifting left to starting on the left and being expected to occupy that space.

No sure about Mo, if he has a good season, we'll keep him around until his contract expires.
Ali will imo go next summer and Robbo too.
But I could be wrong, I mean, I was certain that Gomez would leave.

I wasn't sure either - just from memory I seem to remember him playing there, jinking inside and scoring - a lot !

I know Whoscored keep these stats so a quick check shows (across all clubs and years) he scored 56 goals from 44 matches starting at LW. Obviously a lot more at CF (230 goals in 168 matches) some other positions played not included. In the PL 175 in 238 games).

or it’s just the nonsense that flies around fans. he has cancelled his direct debit to the newcastle orphanage for sick kids and was seen taking a shit in a phone box after kicking a puppy.

He isn’t on the front of the club shop either after the kit launch.

I think there is a difference between a striker who likes to operate in the left channels and left sided attacker. Henry operates in the left channels for the invincible team, but he had support from Pires and Ashley Cole.

Apparently he's gone on strike. Not been back the training ground since early last week

What worries me is that Wirtz, Ekitike and Isak all like drifting into that left channel when they're playing centrally, like Henry did. Might be a bit congested and leave Mo isolated.

Well that's where the training and instructions come in ! We're not throwing our jumpers down on the floor for a kickabout 🤣

LW: Gakpo & Nunez
RW: Mo and Frim
CF: Isak & Ekitike

Can try Nunez on RW when Mo is at AFCON too.
Nunez has started 49 league games for us, but he hasn't started a game since March when he hit that 49 figure. He's only been a sub (in the league) since then.
So I'm guessing we'd have to pay Benfica a few £m if he starts another league game because there's a contingent payment every 25 or maybe every 50 games. So one more start will cost us a few £m. That's not happening and is one more reason why he needs to go.
It also shows that clubs need to be smarter about add-ons. Instead of £2.5m every 25 games, just go with £100k per 45 mins+ or something like that, capped at £2.5m. You're more likely to get your money that way.
We also had a club (Ajax, I think) who put a clause in saying that if we sold the player within X number of years then all the contingencies would be triggered (to get around the situation where we'd just sell the player rather than trigger the add-ons). I doubt Benfica have been that savvy (or that we'd have given them the clause if they asked).

Heard this has been agreed with Newcastle now. Christ that away game is going to be spicy. Joelinton might try and break even more legs than usual.

I can see it being accepted and Fabrizio/ornstein tweeting about it, then 6 hours later the sesko fee is agreed, to try and calm down the pissed off geordies
